“China is the future”
In parallel with its increasing economic power, the country’s hunger for culture has grown naturally. The potential is enormous. New concert halls and theatres are rising everywhere, new orchestras are being founded, millions of children are starting to learn an instrument. At whilst in the west, classical music is in a depression, having difficulty finding new audiences and having to fight for its existence, the people of China have understood the importance and meaning of music and are ready to discover more and more of it. Even though the understanding of classical music is not yet as far advanced as in the good old days in Europe, I have no doubt that in the near future, China will be not only the new power in terms of economy, but also in terms of culture, particularly classical music.
With many thanks to Wu Promotion, especially Rebecca Xu and Gianluca Zanon for the invitation and organization.
